I’m sure you’ve seen the army recruits running with backpacks to get their bodies used to carrying loads. Well, you will be pleased to know that you don’t have to do that. A pair of small bottles of water (one in each hand for balance) is all it takes. Start at 200ml and see how that feels. Too easy up the water level, too hard reduce the level.
